Eurodeput appeals to politicians in Kosovo: Do not misuse the current situation for maneuvering

Some Eurodeputes through a letter have appealed politicians in Kosovo not to misuse the situation with the body's pandemic to make political maneuvers. Through this appeal, they have said that political maneuvers for the country at this time would hurt the state, its reputation, and the path to democracy and freedom. “
Through this appeal, they have said that political maneuvers for the country at this time would hurt the state, its reputation, and the path to democracy and freedom.
“The signatories of this appeal invite all acts involved in Kosovo politics to remain calm and cautious. The current situation poses a high risk of crossing. The government of the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo fell by motion in Parliament in a regular procedure. However, the rapid formation of a new government in the midst of the pandemic threatens the future of still fragile domestic institutions”, said the eurodeputt's letter.
“Trust in political leaders of this government reshuffle has dropped significantly inside and abroad. Any formation of the new government should be in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and have legitimacy through the support of a majority elected in democratic elections”, it is said further.
They've listed these main points:
We support an equal approach to dialogue and consolidation of reports between Kosovo and Serbia. However, the modalities of this process should not lead to general amnesty of war crimes committed and not yet prosecuted.
We urged political leaders to refrain from any kind of swift agreement between Serbia and Kosovo if it risks destabilising the region. This would be especially so if ethnic division between states is offered. Such an agreement should have the support of the people and strengthen the law of democracy beyond ethnic borders.
We strongly recommend that the principles of democracy be respected in order to have political solutions. We hope and believe in the power of institutions and the Constitutional Court to adhere to these principles. Otherwise, there is no other way of clarifying people's will for new elections once allowed because of the situation. Only a government with democratic legitimacy can remove the country from this political crisis.
They have called on citizens not to appear in protests or react to the streets as they have added that the Kosovo leadership should be aware that Kosovo's “future lies in the European partnership and fighting corruption and promoting governance”.
