Over 1,000 infusions are blocked at Mitrovica Hospital, due to product quality allegations

The Hospital Service and the University Clinic of Kosovo has announced that immediate action has been taken after reporting a case related to the medical product “Compund Sudium Lactate Intravenous Infusion BP 500 ml” at Regional Hospital “Sami Hadzibeqiri” in Mitrovica.
As a precautionary measure, it becomes known that the pharmaceutical Inspectorate has ordered the blocking of 1,432 units of this product until the completion of the laboratory analysis and relevant evaluation procedures.
According to the announcement, the patient responsible for the hospital drug store had raised doubts that the product might not be in line with specifics designated for use, Periscopi broadcasts.
After receiving information, KSFKKU, in co-operation with the Kosovo Agency for Products and Medicines (AKPPM) and the pharmaceutical Inspectorate, has taken the necessary steps to verify the case.
On 17.06.2026, the Pharmacechotic Inspectorate conducted inspections in the hospital drug ward where the state of the product reported in question has been verified. Through the process, the pharmaceutical Inspectorate ordered the deadlock of 1,432 medical product units Compound Soodium Lactte Intravenous Infusion BP 500 ml until the completion of the laboratory analysis and relevant procedures”.
“The nature of the find will be determined after the completion of laboratory tests and professional assessments by competent institutions, and we will inform you of the relevant results after these procedures are completed.
