KKP approves five prosecutors' candidacy for chief state prosecutor

With 6 votes for and 1 against, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) has approved the candidacies of five candidates who have entered the race for the Chief State Prosecutor.
Currently, prosecutors who have applied for this position and meet the conditions according to the criteria are:
At and Dema's prosecutor at the Kosovo Republic Department for Investigation of Terrorism,
Naim Abazi possibly the prosecutor at the Kosovo Republic Department for Investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime,
Raphet Halimiı prosecutor at the Kosovo Republic Department for Investigation of Corruption and Financial Crime,
Albanian Fazliu Prosecutor at the Office of State Prosecutor,
Zejnullah Gashiık chief prosecutor of the Founding Prosecutor in Pristina.
The KPK secretariat is forced to publish each candidate's concepts within the deadline.
The 295th meeting of the Council is continuing with the Ad-Hoc Commission's annual Report Supervising for the implementation of the Strategic Plan and Action Plan for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes for 2025.
The decision to announce the competition for the chief state prosecutor was taken at the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council meeting on May 18th 2026.
We remember that at that meeting, member Milo Krasniqi had rejected the contest's proclamation. He had criticism of what he called the “promotion of the competition” without being present with the entire Council at the meeting, saying the Council should not fall into the dictatorship of other powers, as it stressed that candidate Blerim Isufaj was then rejected by President Vjosa Osmani, without a rational decision.
The public knows that this process has been deliberately blocked for about four years. After waiting for so long, I do not know just why we are in a hurry today and what is this urgency with the announcement of the competition for the Chief State Prosecutor. Why not expect legal conditions and full legitimacy for this action to develop. Why should the Council act when others have spoken and spoken about -- those who are at least right -- those who have no constitutional rights, no legal or human rights to be involved in this process”, Krasniqi had said among other things.
After the competition was declared, Kosovo Republic of Kosovo's chief Special Prosecutor, Blerim Isufaj, had filed lawsuits with a request for security at the Administrative Court, demanding that the competition announced by the KKP be suspended, but the Court had rejected the request and that the subject now lies in the complaint procedure at the Court of Appeals. / Justice Trust
