The Centre for Citizen Education and other pro-Serbian groupings calls the minister's photo by Tuzi scandalous.
“Minister of Public Administration Maras Dukaj, although coming from the national minority party, should know that as a member of the Government of Montenegro, and especially when acting as minister, it is obligated to represent the interests of the state in Montenegro and all its citizens, regardless of national affiliation or any other associates”, the Centre for Citizen Education (QQQ) says in response.
“The law on choice, use and public appearance of national symbols envisions the ban on displaying symbols of other countries, among other things, on government objects”, the OQQ's Twitter account says.
Following these reactions in the Montenegrin media and in public opinion, Dukaj himself has clarified the photo:
Because of the unprecedented media attention and various groundless attacks, for the sake of the public, I am obliged to stress as follows: As an ethnic Albanian, I have used the right to deploy the Albanian flag in Tuzi municipality except for the flag of Montenegro, because it is in accordance with the regulations of our state; My picture, in which besides the flag of Montenegro, the flag of the Albanian people in Montenegro does not come from the Ministry of Public Administration, because it would not be in accordance with the regulations of our state; I am sorry that Montenegro's media and public space is still a testing ground for unverified information, sensational and speculation of various kinds. I continue my work in the interest of all citizens of Montenegro and in partnership with our European and Euro-Atlantic allies”. / TCH
