This step is the necessary response to the Russian Embassy staff's activities, which are not in line with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the interests of the Republic of Slovakia and efforts to create partnership with the Russian Federation”, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said through a statement on March 30th.
In this context, we regret that even after the expulsions of Russian diplomats in the past two years, the Russian diplomatic mission has shown no interest in correct activities on our territory”, it has been said in the statement.
Slovakia has given no details about activities that it considers unacceptable, and has offered no deadline for diplomats to leave.
On March 14th, Bratislava expelled three members of the Russian Embassy staff, citing information from Slovakia's secret services.
Knowing those deportations, the Slovak Foreign Ministry has called on “energized” The Russian Embassy to implement its “activities in line with Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations”.
