Government closes and listens: 193 Ferronikli workers leave in April, some are pressured to sign contracts that leave them without 50% pay.

Several consecutive protests by workers, and the Government of Kosovo still has no single response for factory workers “NewCo Fernikli”. That is how more than a thousand factory workers are under threat of employment from April of this year after their contracts are expired. Right this month, 193 of them are automatically leaving... The factory [...]
Ferronikel's factory is in crisis for six months, all due to the price of electricity. About 193 workers who have expired the contract's deadline will be out of work by April.
So for Periscope has confirmed the chairman of the workers union of this factory, Fehmi Nica.
April 1st “about 193 workers have reportedly expired, you have not been continued on April 1,”, Nica has said.
Perscope has learned from safe sources that employees with general contracts in this factory are being pressured to sign those through which they will not receive a full salary, not a 50%, but will be paid only for their pension trust. For this, Nica has confirmed that it has been an option, but that it has failed with the workers' body.
As far as this information is concerned, this has been an option that has fallen from the workers' gathering and ignored that option and has nothing else, and the workers' gathering is the highest body to make decisions for the future of workers, in their interest.
Nica further added that the factory's situation is the same as in October, until it says they have yet to find solutions to get out of the crisis.
“The state of the Fernikli factory is as in October. We haven't contacted Government directly, but with paramilitary groups, competent people. They're trying to make a choice, but they haven't come to choice” yet, he said.
The chairman of the Workers Union in question now warned that if no measures are taken by the government, then they will protest again and go on strike.
If we're created, we're sure to protest or go on strike”.
Periscop has also contacted political parties from office and opposition to ask whether they have considered the current demands of the workers of this local plant in Drenas, but until now they have not responded./ P ERISCOPI/
