It was among the most important of 11 deals between Kosovo and Northern Macedonia in September last year.
For the new route, connecting Prizren and Tetovo, the two countries have also established state commissions that made feasibility and chose the appropriate variant.
The segment, which will reduce distance to 30km, starts from Prizren Monastery and runs the 6.4km tunnel, reports Klonkosova.
Its design to pave the way for the main project is under way. But a new financial agreement between the two countries and approval from the congregations of both states are needed for the start of construction, which is expected to take place farther in 2024.
