He, according to Smail, was not part of the agreement with Albanian parties in the 2017 elections.
“In 2017 all Albanian political subjects, except for the VV, in cooperation with civil society we made arrangements to compete together by means of an initiative called Albanian citizens' initiative and we got an assistary. I was nominated to be a candidate for deputy leader from the” communities, Smajli said.
He claimed that the VVV Branch Chairman's appointment for deputy mayor of the Gracanica municipality was made by the mayor of the municipality coming from the Serbian List.

Smail said that in the event there is more unification of political subjects in Gracanica, there will be more asmblastists.
“I hope this is not a new Serbian List game. I didn't mean for personal gain then either, but my goal is for us Albanians to be a united people. We now have over a thousand votes in Gracanica, I believe that if we all become together we get up to three asmblists. Part of our agreement was not VV”, he said.
