The Pristina municipality has decided to come to aid with financial means of about 5m euros, small and medium-sized businesses, in case of injuries due to Covid-19.
About 20 thousand businesses will be able to take advantage of this package, excluding those who have benefited from the Fiscal Emergency Package.
Pristina municipality deputy head Muheddin Nushi says this package has been approved since April, but for political reasons the Finance Ministry has failed to deliver until the Kosovo Assembly.
Until, he announced that from now on businesses will be able to apply to take advantage of this package.
This package has not yet begun yet, the package was initially approved at the emergency meeting of the municipal assembly in April, but for political reasons, the Ministry of Finance did not reach me until the Kosovo assembly. In case it had to be approved, the transport of resources from capital investments to pre-pronounced grants for businesses damaged during pandemic. At the last meeting of the municipal assembly, the delivery of these means has been approved, after consultations with the finance minister. We've taken legitimacy from the local government management ministry yesterday, so from today we're willing to start with the app, which enables businesses to apply for different forms of grants”, he says.
Nushi for Kosova priss also talks about the criteria businesses must meet for the benefit of grants, which, according to him, businesses should be registered in ATK as well as the payment of monthly obligations.
There's about 20 thousand businesses, there's exactly 19 thousand and 920 businesses registered in ATK, which pay off monthly obligations, and that's one of the criteria you can't have business in front of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and not functioning, to be passive. Only active businesses that have worked and worked, they have the right to apply for these grants. That's why it's about 19 thousand and 920 businesses registered in the ATK database”, he says.
He added that businesses that have benefited from the government package cannot also benefit from the municipality package.
The “Criterates for the division of grants, as well as other criteria, will be defined with all political parties, which are in the municipal assembly, as has been agreement on the last meeting, so the expectations that this week may eventually take place early next week, so that they can gather to define criteria. Not every business can apply, but it will be excluded if it has received economic assistance from the Kosovo government, in this respect we will favour those small businesses, those employed, who have their own family businesses, which have not been beneficial for whatever kind of grant it wants from the Kosovo government”, he says.
As a preventive measure for the spread of the period 19 virus, the Kosovo government had closed down a large number of businesses, thus causing major losses in their activities.
