Sanders said he has repeatedly denounced authoritarianism and that he strongly believes in democracy. However, he supported his visible words that the Communist revolutionary leader, who had led Cuba from 1959 to 2016, had dramatically reduced the scale of illiteracy in his country.
Those words enraged other Democrats, especially Americans, who had fled the terrible Cuban regime.
