Minister ya ▪ Northern Macedonia's Internal Affairs “is in constant contact with Austria's authorities for verifying the attacker's identity, but also for his possible links to other persons”.
The Austrian police through Interpol have applied for co-operation in this case, and our authorities have immediately responded to the request for action”, the ministry for REL's response reported.
Austrian Interior Minister Carl Nehammer said the attacker killed in Vienna was a 20-year-old, with the citizenship of Austria and Northern Macedonia, the AP reports.
Minister Nehammer said the attacker in the past has been convicted of involvement in a terrorist organisation.
He said the alleged “terrorist” was sentenced in April 2019, because he had attempted to travel to Syria in order to join the militant Islamic State group. He had been sentenced to 22 months in prison, but was on bail in December last year.
Police in Austria said they are looking for at least one suspect -- for multiple attacks in Vienna, Austria -- that left at least four people killed.
On Monday evening, armed men in the Austrian capital opened fire in six different countries, wounding 17 people, some of whom are in serious condition.
