The war crimes judge at the Constitutional Court in Pristina has been brought in Friday afternoon to the Palace of Justice, Koha Ditore writes today. The special prosecutor, Blerim Isufaj, has requested a closed session for the media 30 days detention for the judge, whom the Kosovo Judicial Council several hours after the arrest has suspended from work.
The trial judge, Valon Kurtaj, has approved the Special Prosecutor's request and has assigned the 30-day detention to Berisha.
After the hearing for determining the detention measure, which has lasted about an hour, Berisha's lawyer, Gezim Kolcak, has said that the Special Prosecutor had no evidence on which his client's arrest could legally be based.
He has said his client allegedly committed the criminal act “misusing the official position” and possession without permission, but not even taking bribes.
