Confirms Talat Xhaferi: Albanian-language law in Macedonia quickly entered into force

Northern Macedonia's head of the Parliament Talat Xhaferi does not confirm strengthening the language law in the official newspaper within this week, as Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani indicated a day earlier.

Alsat-M writes that even though they have attempted, they have failed to provide an explanation from Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi's cabinet as far as strengthening the language law. Unofficially it is taught that Xhafer's position is not yet firm whether he will send the law on language use within a week for publication in the Official Journal.

Xhaferi had consistently warned the publication in the Official Journal of the Law on Language and Law on ratification of the Agreement with Greece, even though President Djordje Ivanov has refused to decree.
“I've told you that I don't suffer from deadlines for the fact that I'm not narrowed by deadlines and it's my assessment of when it's time to sign it and send the law on languages together with the law for ratification of the Agreement with Greece to the official Gaza”, said Talat Xhaferi, chairman of the Parliament.

The language law was passed on January 11th last year in a tense situation among MPs.

Following the second reading vote by 69 votes for Ivanov, he did not decree on the grounds that this law is contrary to the Constitution and that it has been brought against the constitution's regulation.

Under the procedure, the law was returned for revote in the legislature. On third reading, he again received the approval of most MPs. Despite that, Djordje Ivanov has continued not to sign the Law on Use of Languages. /Periscopi
