That is because with the adoption of the Border Sign Agreement with Montenegro, visa liberalisation was seen as “the work committed”. But this process is not expected to be finalised either during this [...]
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Commission for European Integration, Victory Pacolli-Dalip, has said the EU has never provided the date for visa liberalisation. Promises that liberalisation will happen this year, according to her, are only promises of the Government of Kosovo, not of the EU.
“The EU has declared that without the conditions, particularly fighting organised crime and corruption, there will be no liberalisation. Vetevendosje in March had presented an internal report by European experts engaged by the EC, where it says Kosovo has not taken positive steps in fighting high-level corruption and organised crime”, it has declared “Zerin”.
This report, according to Vetevendosje Movement MP, was signal that there will be no recommendation from the EC this year.
Even as it has stated, states such as France, Belgium, and the Netherlands are not even convinced that the condition for fighting corruption has been met.
Even if the EC publishes the recommendation, Pacolli-Dalip has estimated that the liberalisation process cannot be finalised this year.
Even if the EC recommendation is published this month there is no possibility that the numerous procedures will be completed by the end of”, she stressed.
