The Kosovo Producers Club through a communique for the media has reacted against the Government's action in connection with decisions for taking temporary safeguard clauses to products imported to Kosovo by neighbouring states, decisions which this club calls controversial.

“The KKP has welcomed the Government's decision on taking temporary protective measures against milk products from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but hints that not implementing this decision for three months, pending clarification within the Government of the Republic of Kosovo - despite the existence of previous practices, has been harmful to local producers. The KKP also expresses concern with the decision to withdraw temporary safeguard clauses against many tree and vegetable products to neighboring countries several days after making the decision to apply these measures. Continued measures for only seven products provided minimal protection for local producers who are suffering irreparable damage. The KKP describes that delaying or canceling decisions does not help Kosovo's economic development. These actions show no seriousness compared to the contribution of «local producers and the ongoing effort to achieve trade balance in the country”, the report says.

The KKP appeals to the Government for such economic issues to address with seriousness and for decisions on temporary safeguards not to be changed or cancelled.

In their view, along with the Government's task of creating new jobs, there is the task of maintaining and protecting existing jobs that are constantly at risk of extinction.
