US President Donald Trump and Korean leader Kim Jong Un began a historic meeting in Singapore, where the eyes of the whole world are turned.
The historic handshake between Mr. Trump and North Korean leader Kim occurred in the 12-acre environment of the luxury hotel Capella on the island of Sentosa.
Talks are held face-to-face with only the presence of translators.
The summit in Singapore is the first between a incumbent president and a North Korean leader.
American officials have said that any agreement that can be reached should result in an end to the threat posed by North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
After the summit, the two leaders will have a working lunch and a more extensive two-way meeting, attended by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, White House Staff Chief John Kelly and National Security Adviser John Bolton.
President Trump will hold a press conference and Tuesday night at the local hour will leave Singapore.
