Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has held a telephone conversation with Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
According to a NATO media report, Stoltenberg has reportedly announced that the North Atlantic Council “had an initial discussion on recently adopted laws on the transfer of the Kosovo Security Force (FSK)”.
The deputy secretary general announced Mr Haradinaj that, now that KSF's mandate is under way, the North Atlantic Council will review NATO's level of engagement with the KSF next year. NATO will continue with its KFOR mission to secure a secure environment in Kosovo. KFOR operates under the UN mandate and will not be affected by laws on the transfer of KSF”, NATO report said.
Finally, Stoltenberg is said to continue his engagement with all relevant actors for regional stability.
We remember that a few days before the vote in the KSF's constitution, Stoltenberg had talked on the phone with Haradinaj, who was told that “The transformation of KSF into the Army is contrary to the advice of NATO member states”.
