FIFA Makes Historic Decision for France's quarterfinal

The World Cup quarter between France and Morocco, which will be held in Boston, will go to history for a particular reason: for the first time in this tournament, all five officials assigned to the match will be from the same state.

France secured the qualifications after the hard 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the 1/8th phase of the final, in a tense match where the pre-guague players repeatedly targeted opponents, including star and captain Kylyan Mbppee.

Morocco, meanwhile, passed away after winning the penalty Netherlands after the match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of play.

This quarterfinal will be a repeat of the 2022 World semifinal in Qatar, where France won 2-0 over Morocco, before losing the grand final to Argentina after penalty.

Five silverite judges for the same match

The French match, Marick, will be led by referee Fauntdo Tello, who will be part of a fully Argentinian team.

All five officials present at the stadium will be from Argentina. Theo will be assisted by assistants Juan Pablo Bellatti and Gabriel Chade, while Dario Herrera will be the fourth judge. Cristian Navarro has been appointed a backup assistant.

FIFA's decision has raised questions about fans on social networks. Although this is the first time that a World Cup match will be conducted by five officials of the same state, it is not uncommon for the main referee and his assistants to come from the same country.

For example, England's dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the 1/8th phase of the final was led by a triple Australian referee, while the fourth judge and the reserve official were from Morocco.

Also, in Argentina's 3-2 victory over Egypt on Tuesday, three French officials were assigned to the field, as well as two others to the VAR chamber.

FIFA's decision to appoint referees to the French match Marok was taken on Monday, that is, before the Argentina challenge. Meanwhile, the names of VAR officials for this quarterfinal have not yet been confirmed.

Egypt had complained about judging Argentina

Egypt's attacker, Mostafa Ziko, had sharply criticised French referee Francois Letexier after his team's loss to Argentina.

The Arbiter wasn't good. He was unfair. His injustice was clear. He followed us from the start of the fight. He didn't want us to win”, Ziko declared before reporters.

These complaints have caused FIFA's decisions on appointing referees to major matches in the preliminary phase to take even more attention.

Who will judge the 2026 World Final?

FIFA does not decide for the arbitrator of the World Cup final until the two finalist teams are confirmed, as a judge cannot lead a match in which his national player is playing.

Paulaku Szymon Marciniak, who led the 2022 final between Argentina and France, may again be the candidate for the 2026 World Final.

Another option is Dutch Danny Makkelie, especially after the early elimination of the Netherlands from Morocco in the 1/16 round of the final.

CONMEBOL, South American football confederation, has sent 12 referees to this world, including Brazilian Raphael Claus.

If Claus is set for the final, he may have an unusual meeting with US President Donald Trump, who is expected to be present and hand over the trophy to the winners, even though he has not been seen in any tournament matches until now.

Pollemics about Raphael Claus and the United States

Trump had named Claus “very suspicious since the Brazilian referee expelled Folmar Balog after the VAR review in the United States' 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Claus's decision caused great controversy. Trump even reportedly called FIFA President Gianni Infantino personally to ask for a review of the punishment.

Later, FIFA decided to suspend Balog's red card effect for a period of one year, allowing him to play against Belgium. This decision was severely criticized.

The US was later eliminated from Belgium, losing 4-1 on Monday.

Asked about his administration's intervention in the White House for red card review, Trump told Claus:

If you control his past... I don't mean that, because I don't like to create controversy, but he's very suspicious. ”

Collin Protects Brazilian arbitrator

The chief of referees at FIFA, Pierre Collin, reacted by strongly defending Raphael Claus.

“FIFA recognises Raphael Claus as one of the best professional referees in the world and as an estimated member of the arbitrator team at the” World Cup, Collin said.

“throughout his career, he has consistently shown the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. ”

Colline added that Claus is participating in his second World, since he was also part of the Qatar tournament in 2022.

He is an experienced and highly respected arbitrator. We have full confidence in him as a reliable match official”, Collin concluded. / Periscopi/
