Citizens support electrical buses: Politics not hinders projects in public interest

Citizens of Pristina have welcomed the initiative for bringing electric buses to the capital, praising that investment will improve public transportation, travel conditions and air quality.

They have called for co-operation between the central and local levels for the realisation of projects that are in the interest of citizens, while stressing that modernising public transportation is a lasting need for the capital.

Citizens Saudi Hasani said the arrival of electrical buses is good news not only for residents of Pristina, but also for citizens from all over Kosovo who frequent the capital.

The warning of the arrival of new electrical buses is good news for citizens of the capital in particular and for Kosovo in general. Because in the capital, as we know, they come from other cities, all of Kosovo. In addition to the citizens, this also serves the employees who work there to improve their condition. Even for citizens inside, because we have witnessed that some time ago, buses have not particularly had no climate or cure, and it has been a serious state of travel especially in the summer season citizens with them”, he said.

Hasani stressed that projects that are in the interest of citizens must be supported by all levels of power.

No, good things shouldn't stop. Good things should be supported by the central level, like the local level. And politics should not divide the central level and local level where the interests of citizens are included and for public good where it is”, he said.

Citizen Rame Zenun also considered it important to invest in public transportation, calling for interilateral co-operation.

It's very important work for us. Like the government with the municipality, they can come down for nothing, I think it's good both the government and the municipalities thinking about citizens, not governments or communities. That way it's good to solve the case and not have the dilemma. If it's in the interest of citizens, I think I should buy it, come in. In other countries, other capitals have trams, have other special buses, have electricity, have tins, why don't we have them? If understood, within the ability of the State. Therefore the municipality initiative I like, which should facilitate the work of citizens as much as possible and as possible”, he said.

In his view, electric buses would also affect reducing pollution and facilitating circulation in the city.

I think that in addition to protecting the air, I think that even moving into communications around the city would be reduced by automobiles, and that way the circulation would be cheaper, it would be more relaxed, it would have been more comfortable and could both citizens with” vehicles, he said.

Meanwhile, citizen Ahmet Mustafa said improving public transportation would directly affect saving time for travellers.

It's good to have buses. Sometimes we're waiting 20 minutes, sometimes half an hour. And the job is losing”, he said.

Pristina Mayor Progress Rama on Wednesday presented images of what 15 electric buses and two railways planned for the capital will look like, but without announcing the date of their arrival.

He announced that during yesterday the funding process for operators that would secure these means has been supported.

Rama had promised during last year's local elections that Pristina would take place on electricity patrol during June.

Meanwhile, incumbent Finance Minister Hekuran Murati reacted to the project, naming it contrary to the law. He has said that providing public transport services through private operators should be done according to the procedures provided with the Public-Private Partnership Law.

According to him, the Pristina municipality has not followed the legal procedures required for such a project.

Pristina's <x0 community has not followed any procedure imposed by the Law in force, so any arrangement, agreement or contract that has been signed on this issue is in full violation of the Law on Private Partnership. Order organs should act as soon as possible in order to prevent misuse of public money”, the Murati wrote on Facebook.
