Hegseth warns US could restore maritime blockades if the deal with Iran is not backed

If Iran does not adhere to the terms of the memorandum, then the US is “that it is able to restore an iron blockade”, says US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The US has agreed to remove the naval blockade, which has banned ships from travelling directly or off Iran's coast since April, as part of the agreement signed this week.
If Iran doesn't do what it says it will do”, which is to give up its ambition for nuclear weapons, then Hegseth says the “department of war is here and prepared to resume work if necessary”.
He says that any action and military negotiations of the US will be “focused” on Iran's nuclear weapons, writes BBC.
Hegseth also says there are European countries that are “prepared to take steps” and help clear the Hormuz Strait.
But he calls on the United Kingdom directly to make progress, to do more, to spend even more” in particular, he says the United Kingdom should help the United States if it requires access to military bases in the United Kingdom and Diego Garcia. /Periscope/
