Rutte: Kosovo is important partner NATO

Secretary - General NATO, Mark Rutte, has praised Kosovo as an important partner, giving particular emphasis on improving the security situation.
Asked whether Kosovo can be viewed as part of NATO, what Kosovo should do for this to happen, and whether the KSF will be supported by NATO, he said at the conference that Kosovo is an important partner and that the most important is that the security situation has improved.
Of course, Kosovo is an important partner, but you also know there are some countries that do not recognise Kosovo, so there is this complexity. However, I think the most important thing is for us to do everything to ensure that KFOR is as strong as”, he has declared.
Rutte said that according to NATO's assessment, the security situation in Kosovo has improved in recent years.
The decision for this reason has been made for KFOR to return to the levels prior to 2023 as far as the number of troops was concerned. Currently there are about 4,700 troops and, depending on the circumstances, KFOR will still remain with a considerable presence of 3,000 to 3,500 troops, acting naturally on the basis of the current mandate and legal framework”, Rutte has said.
