PDK deputies are expected to gather at the beginning of 2:00 Wednesday to discuss the issue of electing the president. So far there is no name that has officially received signatures to be a candidate for president. The PDK has refused to speak publicly about proper names.
Days ago, chairman of The PDK, Bedri Hamza, indicated that their latest bid for a deal with the Vetevendosje Movement on the president's case is for the president to be nominated by the PDK, and to receive the support of the VV as well. He had said the name would not be party.

Kurt's Hamza met twice so far. There have been no concrete results from meetings for any consensus candidate. On Saturday, Hamza's bid was interpreted by Vetevendosje Chairman Albin Kurti, as the “opening of the” race for president. However, this was denied by Hamza, who said that “if there is a race, the result is” by alluding to the numbers in the Assembly. Under the constitution, at least 30 deputies' signatures are needed to propose a candidate for president. The Vetevendosje movement has 57 deputies, while no other party has the only 30 votes.
Pula met days ago with Prime Minister Kurti. In the communiqué by the prime minister's office it became known that both have congratulated each other on their respective posts and that they have discussed progress and challenges in the country.
On December 20th 2025, Pula was elected chairman of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts. Pula has been PDK deputy (2011-2014) and Minister of Energy and Mines (2008-2011).
Current President Vjosa Osmani completes his mandate on April 4th. And according to the Constitution, if the Parliament fails to elect the president no later than 30 days before the end of the current president's mandate, then the state goes to new elections. There have been different interpretations as to whether this should be March 4th or 5th. Prime Minister Albulen Haxhiu had said it is March 4th, and in LDK the previous day said the deadline ends on March 5th.
The president's election requires at least 80 votes in one of the first two ballots, or 61 votes in the third round, out of a total of 120 MPs. /Periscope
