Britain asks FIFA to investigate Argentina for banners for the Falkland Islands

The United Kingdom government has asked FIFA investigates Argentina's national after showing the banner “Las Malvinas son of Argentinas” (“The Falkland Islands are in Argentina” during celebrations after victory over England at the World Cup semifinal.
London described the action as inappropriate and politically content.
FIFA's disciplinary code bans political messages in stadiums and envisions fines for such violations.
The Argentine players said the banner was a sign of support for their people and the 1982 war veterans.
The Falkland Islands (Malvinas) issue remains an old dispute between Britain and Argentina.
FIFA has not yet made an official statement on the case. If disciplinary procedure is opened, the Argentinian federation may face sanctions. Periscope.
