Parliamentary groups of Vetevendosje Movement (VV) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) will gather today before crucial hours for electing the president.
KOHA has learned that the VV Parliamentary Group will hold the meeting at 13:30 while he is on it. PDK from 2:00.
Kosovo has entered the crucial hours of electing the president. President Vjosa Osmani completes his mandate on April 4th. And according to the Constitution, if the Parliament fails to elect the president no later than 30 days before the end of the current president's mandate, then the state goes to new elections. There have been different interpretations as to whether this should be March 4th or 5th. Prime Minister Albulen Haxhiu had said it is March 4th, and in LDK the previous day said the deadline ends on March 5th.
The president's election requires at least 80 votes in one of the first two ballots, or 61 votes in the third round, out of a total of 120 MPs.
Under the constitution, at least 30 deputies' signatures are needed to propose a candidate for president. The Vetevendosje movement has 57 deputies, while no other party has the only 30 votes. /Periscope
