Koran burning in Gjakova, Islamic Community reacts

This act, BIK called it a vandal and a criminal, saying the act was carried out by orders and a clear criminal mission.

BIK, has added that the <x0th such action is totally unacceptable, as it seriously violates the universal human values of world civilization and, at the same time, directly hits the principles, tradition and identity of our people”.

Kosovo police have said they have notified the prosecutor, and together are taking actions to whiteen the case.

I am deeply terrified and shocked by the act of vandal and criminal burning and desecration of the Holy Koran, carried out by orders and clear criminal missions by still unknown persons in Chabrat of Gjakova.

Such an act is totally unacceptable because it seriously violates the universal human values of world civilization and, at the same time, directly strikes the principles, tradition, and identity of our people.

The Albanian people, over the centuries, have been recognised and identified as harmony, coexistence and interreligious understanding, as well as respect for the other's faith, culture and tradition, especially when it comes to sensitive issues related to religion and faith.

Unfortunately, these values and principles have recently been targeted by dark movements that, in the name of a “Albanian” warped and so-called “becoming root”, are promoting hatred, division and violence.

Individuals and organised groups, manipulating, slandering and instrumentalizing public opinion, are spreading hate languages and are calling out for violence against the Albanians of Muslim faith, as well as the disappearance of Islamic heritage and culture.

This dangerous propaganda, in even shocking cases, has even been supported by persons held and paid as university professors, taking dark examples and models of the Greek and Serbian genocide of Muslim Albanians.

We see the Koran's burning and desecration in Gjakova as a concrete and alarming act, as a direct consequence of these anti-Albanian and anti-Islamic ideologies aimed at realising malicious projects according to foreign models that have historically been hostile to Albanians of Islamic faith.

In this case, we ask the competent state bodies to immediately take the necessary legal action against the perpetrators of this criminal act, but also to the idealists, mentors and ideologists of this dangerous ideology, who act by hiding behind the false slogans of “the free word”, “the right to trust” and an Albanian warped in their interests.

I invite state institutions, once again, to take adequate and concrete measures to maintain social cohesion, authentic values of our people, interreligious harmony and the general interest of our citizens and our lands../Periscopi/
