(an hour ago)Police authorities seized more than 2.6 tonnes of cocaine and arrested four people in a major international operation in the Atlantic Ocean.
Four people were arrested, two Spaniards, an Albanian living in Italy and a resident of Gibraltar.
The market load value is approximately 500m euros, according to Italian police.
"Vlera majority of cocaine is estimated at approximately 78m euros. After surrendering to its destination and being thinned for retail distribution, narcotics may have generated total revenues of about 500m euros", a statement said.
Authorities noted that organised crime gangs are increasingly using so-called vessels"go fast".
These are fast, swollen ships of between 10 and 16 meters long, equipped with numerous powerful engines.
Using these ships, groups can recover illegal cargo thrown from the sea by ships coming from South America.
The engine ship was reportedly banned on the coast of Lisbon by Portuguese authorities in collaboration with Spanish and Italian counterparts.
The hearing took place on Thursday, some 90 km southwest of Cape Espichel, Portuguese police reported.
