Asked if he was hired by administration officials who named Pretti an internal terrorist, Trump said: “I didn't hear about it, but of course he shouldn't have carried a gun. ”
Speaking to reporters at a restaurant in Aeva, Trump added: “He had a gun. I don't like that. He had two fully loaded rounds. This is bad. And despite that, I'd say this is very unfortunate. ”
Pretti, licensed holder for concealed weapons, was killed Saturday during a federal operation to implement the immigration law in Minneapolis. The event has caused widespread criticism and has led to changes in leadership ordered by the White House.
Weapons Rights Groups, including NRA and Gun Owens of America reacted by stressing that Pretti was holding the gun legally, while images spread by the site show he didn't touch the gun before he was shot. Trump's statements have opened divisions within the republican camp, on the eve of mid-November elections.
