Physical clashes between Serbs and Kosovo Police in Klokot due to the burial of infected pigs

The event took place in the village of Gerncar in the Klokot municipality, whose residents claimed that the burial of these animals was located near the village.

That's why they've protested and police have tried to get them out, KoSSev reports.

Police have confirmed that there are no reports of any incidents, but also said it has provided support in transporting dead animals.

The first case of African plague in Kosovo was recorded last month in the Klokot municipality.

The Food and Veterinary Agency confirmed at the time that they took to the ground for diagnostic research on the farm, the taking of samples and the isolation of the farm, but also that they euthany animals and created a crisis headquarters responsible for managing the situation.

Some residents of the village of Gerncar have told KoSSev yesterday that a hole with the intention of burying infected pigs has been dug in this village.

One of them, Dusan Marinkovic, says locals were unaware until yesterday when, as he explains, an escaper came and began opening a hole, he says, just a few hundred yards from home.

This morning, “came there in a truck and fired a trailer with dead pigs”, Marinkovic says.

Then residents of the area gathered and blocked the road leading to the digger, revolted by choice of location and fear of possible infection.

He stresses that members of the Kosovo Police have been found there.

When citizens rebelled, police during the protest were told that the mayor had agreed and was aware of where pigs would be buried”, Marinkovic claims.

Later, he says that citizens have even gone to the municipality, but that the only answer they've received is that “is that work schedule is over”.
