The deputy executive director of the Kosovo Tax Administration (ATK) has said they have added activities to monitoring the taxpayers' categories, which have increased activity during the summer season, such as singers, discotheques and restaurants.
The purpose of this inspection according to Murtezaj is that they by the end of the declaration's deadline meet their obligations to the state, otherwise other measures are taken.
Before all, our approach is sectoral, and one of the sectors identified as the most problematic sector if we can say in fulfillment of the tax is exactly the gastronomy sector, which is known to still have the most presence of fiscal coupons on the part of coffee, restaurants, and so on. But at the same time this portion of gastronomy, and accommodation, implies the involvement of other taxpayers such as singers, discotheques and other”, Murtezaj said of EO.
We've already seen it in our publications in recent days we've increased increased activity in this group of taxpayers because of the summer season. We know that in this season there is an increase in the activity of these taxpayers or businesses, and our approach is to become identification or obtaining information about this taxpayers category, always in order for them to initially call on them to self-decipher and pay their tax duties, then if after the end of the declaration deadline, they do not meet their tax obligations, there are still seconds or second tools that the law imposes on us to do so, so”
Moreover, Murtezaj said that only from the latest inspections conducted by ATK inspectors, who, according to him, are somewhere over 70, have encountered nearly 300 undeclared workers, on 100,000 non-launched vouchers, and the value of penalties from these inspections stands at 200,000 euros.
However, the ATK executive director said they do not claim or aim to meet their budget or goals through control or penalties.
And this Murtezaj supported even with statistics, where he said over 90% of the ATK's total revenues are from voluntary fulfillment, while only slightly over 10% of total revenues result from these inspections or controls that are realised by this institution.
