KKP and State Attorney: Prime Minister and Minister gave inaccurate and biased information

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and State Prosecutor have reacted to Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu after their statements at a news conference Sunday. Kurti said that over 200 judges have dealt with cases of sexual violence and have pronounced only fine and conditional sentences, while accusing even about 140 prosecutors who said they have allowed the prescription of the cases.
The KKP and State Prosecutor have called the prime minister's statements incorrect and biased.
“actually, these public procedures of the prime minister and the minister of justice for prescribing cases of sexual violence in the prosecutor are completely degenerated by official reports of the prosecutorial system. From reports by the KKP and the State Prosecutor, according to data on cases of sexual violence during 2020, 2021 and the first six-month of 2022, only one (1) has been described involving sexual violence. In this case, we stress that information declared today by the prime minister is incorrect, has nothing to do with reality, and are completely biased to the prosecutorial system”, said in response.
According to the KKP and the State Prosecutor, the prime minister and government did not verify and professionally analyse official statistics.
“The KKP and State Prosecutor inform the prime minister and government that official statistics are not drawn up with prejudice, but are verified, professionally analysed and approved at public meetings by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council”, the response is said.
Moreover, this incorrect and biased statement of the prime minister expresses the need for the country's prime minister to co-operate and co-operate with the prosecutorial system in the process of respective competencies, respecting the democratic standards and functioning standards of institutions in the Republic of Kosovo”, it is said further in response.
