“Long-term contracts allow Budapest to buy Russian gas five times cheaper than the current market price in Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the Kremlin.
The Hungarian government says it has done much to develop good relations between the two countries.
The Russian president assured the Hungarian prime minister that agreements signed last year by Hungary with Gazprom allow Hungary to have stable gas supplies by 2036.
The Russian president praised co-operation in the energy sector, saying the “energy sector in general has a large place in the two countries' co-operation”, noting co-operation with regard to the Pacs nuclear power plant.
Among other things, he noted co-operation between the two countries in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as the agreement between the two countries for the production of railway cars for Egypt.
Referring to co-operation for pandemic, Putin said Russia has delivered 2 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine in Hungary and that the issue of technology transfer for vaccine production in Hungary is currently being discussed.
For his part, the Hungarian prime minister said Hungary wants to increase gas imports from Russia under a long-term bilateral agreement. (Oranews. tv)
