EU approves candidate country status for Bosnia and Herzegovina

The EU's Council for General Affairs has approved the granting of candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina. This decision of ministers will be confirmed by the leaders of EU member governments during the summit, to be held on Thursday, December 15th.
“In the current geopolitical context, the EU Council stresses the urgency of the state moving forward on the road towards the EU, especially through meeting the 14 key priorities for opening EU membership negotiations, which have been identified in the European Commission's opinion of Bosnia and Herzegovina's application for EU membership, adopted at the Council in 2019<18x1>, was told in the conclusion document, in which the REL had access earlier.
