RRGK says that in the continuation of daily news of sexual harassment, gender-based violence, and women's rapes, as well as the day when the global campaign “16 Days of Activism against violence against women”, the killing of 63-year-old in Pristina, only disproportionates and highlights the deep consequences of patriarchal and cultural norms in which women are killed only for women!

Full response from RRGK:
Women are living in threatening environments in Kosovo!
The rehabilitation measures for abuse still do not exist, and victims of gender-based violence continue to remain without a way out of repeated violence. Once, employing women and inheriting property remain among the lowest in the Balkans, and this keeps women connected in abusive environments. Ratings of risklessness on the part of police officials are weak and follow with recivilistic cases. Court sentences continue to be low and absurd by bringing those responsible for the brutal murder of women to trial and giving the same extenuating circumstances along the criminal procedure.
This link to circumstances shows us that killing women is due to institutional, social and collective failure, in dealing with gender-based violence as a primary issue, under the rule of law and access to justice.

Article 173 of the Republic of Kosovo's Penal Code clearly has the conviction for the assassination, which says the person who causes the murder of family or child member is sentenced to life imprisonment. Thus, RGK requires that maximum punitive measures be pronounced and that his surrender to the police and the age of the rapist be not considered as a facilitator, as is the practice of considering the latter by the courts.
S. The GK, as a network of 190 different women's rights organisations throughout Kosovo, will monitor the institution's response to this case and to all gender-based violence cases.
RGK remains open to co-operation and assistance for victims of gender-based violence through free legal consultation and reference to relevant institutions.
