Ceku: Politics leaves Kosovo without energy, here are options to get out of crisis

The only alternative to exit the energy crisis is rehabilitation of five blocks of thermal power plant “Kosovo A”. So thinks former Energy and Mining Minister Ethem Ceku, who adds that neither is the government led by Albin Kurti of the energy sector.
Ceku, who served as minister in the period 2003-2006, says the level of electricity consumption at the time has been approximately the same this year.
According to him, consumption has not increased because there is no significant development of industry in the country. Kosovo, he says, needs constant energy for 1200 to 1400 megawatts.
Responding to the energy crisis in the country, Ceku requires political consensus to get the country out of this difficult situation.
The former minister in an interview for Kosova Preiss states there should be no expensive electricity for family economies, but tariff increases should be only for businesses.
How do we get out of this crisis? Personally to the opinion that the Government of Kosovo should invite a prestigious international company, which would do an analysis on the blocks of the power plant, Kosova Aão. There are five blocks and consider whether there can be a deep rehabilitation of those five major investment blocks. So through them we keep Kosovo with regular electricity supplies. This is a first option. The alternative should be seen whether we can build new Kosovo blocks, for which now there are many obstacles because the World Bank and the European Union countries have stopped funding and do not allow energy to be produced from lignite. So the only option is to rehabilitate the blocs of Kosovo A”, Ceku said.
University professor Ceku, not isolating any political subject, has blamed all political parties for failing to build new power generation capacities, in this case the implementation of the new “Kosovo project.
“Politics made many mistakes, extraordinary mistakes have been made in the energy sector. It was designed the project Kosovo CH, which had two stages of construction, the first phase was 1,000 megawatts, and then the next phase was plus 1,000 MWH. So we closed the blocs of Kosovo A's, and we had the blocks of Kosovo C') which the project was later changed to new Kosovo. We had four major global consortiums, who were in the race to build the CʹBAR Kosovo project. Unfortunately, interventions and frequent changes from energy policy to changing projects and major interventions. Politics has left Kosovo without electricity. The changes and interference of politics in the Kosova CH project has made the project impossible, as gas project and other projects” were, he says.
By giving his arguments, Ceku says that in any form the current should not be expensive for consumer citizens. He thinks business should be loaded.
