Kosovo's largest opposition party leader, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, has sent a letter to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti today, through which he expresses concern for the serious state of pandemic and the lack of effective management.
In his letter, the opposition leader has expressed PDK's demand and readiness for Kosovo Assembly deputies to stop firing and to return immediately to find opportunities to support citizens in these difficult times.
[Revisiting] The PDK considers the change and fulfillment of this Law necessary to help citizens. As a result, The PDK considers the break of holidays and the immediate return of deputies to the Kosovo Assembly necessary and is ready to speed up decisions to overcome this tragedy”, Krasniqi has written among other things.
He has suggested that he will also talk to LDK chairman Lumir Abdixhiku and AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj.
We need a common front, not an internal political struggle, to confront the pandemic and side with the needs of citizens”, Krasniqi said in his Facebook post.
Below is PDK leader Memli Krasniqi's full letter to Prime Minister Kurti:
Dear Prime Minister,
Kosovo is going through a tragedy, and citizens are rightly anxious for themselves and their families.
The many loss of lives in battle with Ovid 19, the crowded hospitals, the high number of infected, and the lack of vaccines that are obvious, would have to alarm us all, indiscriminately.
This extremely serious situation, which has unfortunately resulted from lack of efficient management, requires an urgent response, a comprehensive plan and a maximum commitment of state institutions.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo has been consistent in the stance that a common front is needed to stand up to the pandemic and side with the needs of citizens, and by no means an internal political struggle.
From the beginning of the pandemic, The PDK, being in opposition, has provided its assistance in drafting and voting the Law on Prevention and Combating Pandemia and the Law on Economic Regeneration, as well as supporting international agreements on confrontation with the pandemic situation.
To this day, that he may stop this grievous leap of indigestion, The PDK is ready to offer solutions to citizens in the Kosovo Assembly.
Seeing that not enough planning was made during the revision of the Budget Law to treat pandemic, although the variable Delta was seen by world experts as rapidly approaching avalanches, The PDK considers the change and fulfillment of this Law necessary to help the citizens of the country. As a result, The PDK considers the break of holidays and the immediate return of MPs to the Kosovo Assembly necessary and is ready to speed up making decisions to overcome this tragedy.
The infected need support with drugs, health professionals for well-deserved support, hospitals for emergency investment, financial aid businesses, citizens for security. Everyone needs to feel the presence and institutional care in order to cope more easily with this serious situation.
There is no greater priority and no other important issue to take note of!
Honestly,
Memli Krasniqi
Head PDK
