It has saved Kosovo 380m euros in Arbitraz: Who is Luka Misetic, Hashim Thaci's new lawyer?

This will be the second lawyer on Thaci's team, which has been involved in Gotovina's defence since several days ago, David Hoopeer's replacement, was appointed lawyer, Gregory Keohe, also former Croatian general's lawyers.

But who is Luka Misetic?

He is an internationally experienced lawyer before international courts. With more than 20 years of judicial experience, he has great recognition of international and national justice that focuses on representation of individuals, corporations and governments in complicated commercial, civil, criminal, international and arbitration issues.

Luke is also an international legal adviser on I CSID, the Eternal Court of Arbitrazhi, the International Court of Justice and various international courts. It also continues to represent clients in domestic court cases, including contract violations, fraud and partnership disputes. In May 2018, he and his team secured a full victory for Kosovo in a 380m-euro bid submitted before I CSID. Misetic had led the Kosovo defence team in this dispute with the International Court of Arbitrazhi, thus defeating claims by the German company AXOS seeking compensation with the reason that they were illegally denied the right to privatise Kosovo Telecom.

In June 2019, Luke and his team secured full victory for the Republic of Estonia in a claim of the $100 million treaty submitted under the Netherlands Peace Investment Treaty quite Estonia by the Estonian water provider AS Tallinna Vesi and its Dutch shareholder United Utilies (Talin) BV.

Misetic's work at The Hague (where he lived for two years) as the principal adviser defending Croatian General Ante Gotovina led to his complete innocence before The Hague Tribunal, receiving the attention of the entire world. He was the youngest lawyer ever to defend a case in front of an international court and was profiled in various publications including news The York Times and the Chicago Lawer.

It also represents clients in state, federal and international court cases, including trade, civil and international criminal cases. Luka represents corporations and partnerships, as well as directors, officials and their partners in their claims of violating contracts and issues of regulations, secret trade claims, fraud and negligence and various issues.

Globus magazine (Croatian weekly) has named it “one of the world's 100 most influential Croats”. In addition, in 2013, Misetic has received the Winodol Code Award of the Croatian-American Bar Association in assessing his outstanding legal career and extraordinary contribution to the Croatian-American community.
