Beden's man for ambassador to Pristina: I will encourage 5 Europeans to recognise Kosovo

The chairman of the Commission has asked the nominated Hovenier how pro-Western orientation of Kosovo should be maintained so that it is not tempted by Russian and Chinese influence.

The American diplomat has responded that the five non-recognising states of Kosovo's independence should think seriously about the consequences Kosovo's non-recognition of all EU states could bring.

Supporting the dialogue facilitated by the EU for normalising Kosovo-Serbia relations, which, to quote President Biden, “should focus on mutual recognition”. Normalisation is essential for regional stability and security and will pave the way for the two countries' integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions. If the nomination is confirmed, I will encourage Kosovo to engage constructively, flexiblely and urgently”, Havenier has said among other things.
