For local elections to be held this Sunday, there will be inter-institutional co-operation for the management of the election process.
On election day, more than 3,500 police officials, 35 judges and 80 prosecutors will stand up for the vote and for the security of citizens in Kosovo's 38 municipalities.
Central Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Kreshnik Radoniqi has said that for four months this institution has prepared this process for holding elections. As long as he's asked the political subjects to uphold the law and regulations in force on Election Day.
“From past election processes that our institutions have had an insignificant number of cases in which it was intervened, however, this time on election day we will be in constant co-ordination and react to any situation associated with the election process.... Of course, the most important day is election day, so on behalf of the CEC I invite political subjects, candidates, and anyone else who has a role in any form in the electoral process to uphold the law and election regulations in power, on the contrary risk any criminal offense. In the end, I want to address all citizens with voting rights that Sunday will go out to vote to elect the mayor of their municipality and the members of the 911 municipalities, Radoniqi stressed.
The head of the CEC at the joint conference with police, the state prosecutor, has said they have applied to the Government for the provisional removal of the curfew.
“We have made a request to the government for suspending the movement's restriction for 48 hours, for Saturday and Sunday in order to have a movement for both CEC staff and observers, for commissioners. At least, maybe the police won't stop or punish them. This request will be approved or not remains in the decision to make government”, he said.
Laura Pula from the state prosecution has said they have established mechanisms for a literal process, where there will be 80 caretaker prosecutors in Kosovo's 38 municipalities for preserving the citizen vote.
We all know that the vote is the true power of every citizen and that's why we have the motto “The protection of the citizen vote”. Now the prosecutorial system has created a good policy of election prosperity, defending the free vote of citizens, but for knowledge this time, we have finalised all action procedures which are part of the memorandum with the Kosovo police... In this election, we have 80 presiding prosecutors along with support staff who will co-operate regularly and in real time together with Kosovo police investigators in 38 municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo... If there will eventually be any misuse of the free vote of citizens, the state prosecutor along with the Kosovo police will be the guardian of the vote's defence. So all voters who will misuse the vote will be detained and arrested, but responsible officials” will also be arrested, she said.
