A US Capitol Police officer has died as a result of injuries sustained during Wednesday's riots. The news was confirmed by police, under which Officer Brian D. Sicknick died about 21:30 Thursday.
Agent Brian Sicknick was responding to the clashes Wednesday, January 6th in the Capitol and was injured while physically objecting to demonstrators reported in police statements.
He collapsed after returning to his division office and was sent to a hospital, where he later passed away as a result of severe injuries, police said.
Sicknick joined the Capitol Police in 2008.
“The entire department expresses the deepest condolences to Officer Sicknick's family and friends for their loss and laments the loss of a friend and colleague”, the Capitol Police Department statement said.
At Wednesday's protests in the Capitol, four more people lost their lives, while according to U.S. media sources reported that 60 police officers suffered injuries.
