Ten eurodeputs write to the Commissioner for Enlargement: Serbia's government is violating democracy

Ten members of the European Parliament, members of the Socialist and Democrat group (S&D), sent a letter to European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhely, in which they criticised the Serbian government and estimated it is endangering democracy. The letter was signed by EP deputy chairman Clara Dobrev, head of the EP delegation in Serbia Tanja Fajon, four MPs from the ruling Italian Democratic Party and others.

“Anyway, information currently presented by the Serbian government and other institutions shows a distorted view of the” election process, said in the letter to Varhely.
The letter adds that the main part of the relevant opposition will boycott the elections and that the situation further deteriorates by the almost complete control of media by the ruling political parties.
