The American diplomat says in front of Serbs: US strongly supports Kosovars, will have bad deal

William Montgomery, former U.S. ambassador to Belgrade, has spoken of the possible agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, saying his country supports Kosovars and will not allow a bad “resolution”. In an interview given to Tanjug, former American ambassador said only one person in the region has the strength and the desire for a good solution, which in his opinion is Serbian President Alexander Vuciq.

Your president is a strong leader who understands international policy very well and he is the only person in the region who has the strength and the desire to achieve a good solution to the problem. The question is whether international forces and Kosovo-Albanian internal divisions will enable it. “

Mr. Montgomery in this interview has also expressed his respect for EU special envoy for the dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, who he says has known for 20 years.

Asked how you view the role of the United States in the process of reaching a final solution and whether the White House will co-operate with Brussels, and whether some independent initiatives from the White House can be expected, Montgomery said: “Thank God, currently the US Administration will accept the agreement Lajcak will reach “.

He stressed that it should be taken into account that the American foreign policy community strongly supports the Kosovo Albanians and will do everything to prevent any bad agreement between the two countries.

When asked how he currently views the Serbian state policy, taking into account regional and international circumstances, but also internally preventing the opposition's election with the aim of delegate of the government, for which they receive support from several European addresses, Montgomery recalls that for 30 years, he opposes any boycott of the elections.

According to him, the boycott is counterproductive.

We remember that Kosovo and Serbia can return to the dialogue table very soon after lifting the reciprocity measure from the Hoti Government, which Belgrade used as an obstacle.
