So said Kosovo Mayor Xhafer Tahiri, in an interview for Kosovo, in which, apart from the municipality's work, a significant role is being played by citizens who are following the guidelines of health institutions to stay home as a measure against the spread of COVID-19.

There are 24 citizens identified with COVID-19, of whom 7 are already cured. Thanks to the measures we've taken on time, thanks to excellent cooperation, the great discipline of all Vushtrri citizens we've achieved that cases that are largely under control. Fortunately, what was known as a hearth in the village of Studies has already been completely extinguished, all the citizens there have recovered from COVID-19. Also, in the village of Pestowe, extremely well managed, while even in the village of Smreconica, which is in quarantine, with the decision of the MSH situation under control, all patients are in good health. Unfortunately, we had another death in the village of Smreconica, but that the virus has not spread is within two families, he declared.

The first of Vushtrri says the citizens of his municipality are adhering to the movement's restrictions and, as a result, in the last three days no person has resulted in anyone with COVID-19.

We haven't had a positive case with COVID-19 in the last three days, despite 15 tests. The citizens of Vushtrri are responding positively to measures to stay at home and I want to thank them and businesses which in these times of pandemic have behaved perfectly”, he said.

This week Tahiri indicated that they will also vote on the economic package, which contains a number of measures that will help businesses that have been damaged during this time.

The economic package of the Vushtrri municipality, which will take place this week in the Municipal Assembly, included the release of the rent fee for the exploitation of the Communists' facilities, and the release of payment for the exploitation of public spaces. We have also proposed a release from the payment of a nursery or a preschooler because it also does not work. A new measure will also be approved at this Assembly meeting, which is a study on the impact of COVID-19 on family economies in Vushtrri. The goal is that through this study, new measures will be designed and requirements before the government and donors will be presented to restore the economy in Vushtrri. There are also a series of measures we expect to implement in the process, and very soon we will leave the economic zone that will also be a contribution to business”, Tahiri said.

As a municipality, he says they are well supplied with protective means for all health personnel.

And we've generally had enough supplies from the Ministry of Health, but we've used the municipal contract and we're supplied with the municipality's own tools. All these costs are being made, and these economic measures, of course, have economic impacts on municipal revenues, but we're all putting these in a separate code that will then be presented to the Government of Kosovo and donors like the European Union, the World Bank, as the possibility of their re-paying for the recovery of Vushtrria's” economy, Tahir said.

There are 24 cases of COVID-19 in the Vushtrri municipality where one person has died. At the country level until last night, 561 cases have been confirmed, out of them 102 healed and 12 with a fatal outcome.
