Thaci: meeting with Vucinqi for the possibility of reaching a final agreement

Thaci told Radio Free Europe that at the meeting it has been discussed for “dominately of a peaceful resolution of Kosovo issues- Serbia” and for “the possibility of reaching final agreement”.

“A good will has been shown to advance in the interest of both countries”, Thaci said.

The end of the dialogue must come as soon as possible with a final agreement, meaning mutual recognition, no less or more, under current territorial integrity. The whole process will help accelerate Kosovo's integration into NATO and the EU, as well as Kosovo's membership in the United Nations. We don't have time to waste and certainly have to work closely with our partners. We cannot expect from other addresses, such as the European Union, with two people whose countries (Spanja and Slovakia) have not recognised Kosovo's independence. Now we have an offer from Washington and we have to move forward”, Thaci said.

Asked what Washington's bid is, he said the US has recognised Kosovo as an independent state, that with the US it has been working for Kosovo's freedom and independence, and that the US <x0-cypher is peace, stability, development and integration into NATO and the EU”.

President Thaci announced that the meeting was held at the invitation of special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia Richard Green, while US National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien was present.

Thaci said that not at the meeting has been discussed for “particular things”, while added that Kosovo, as well as Serbia, has assessed the UN's “governing body” in dialogue.

“I hope that in the next stages, we'll have orientations as far as the substance is concerned, but, at the same time, timelines. But what I can currently say is that this meeting has been the meeting of the good will, symbolic of sending the message of peace to Kosovo and Serbia, and of the Western Balkans”, Thaci told Radio Free Europe.

He said Monday's meeting reconfirms once again the pledge of US President Donald Trump to move things forward with a new dynamic.

Earlier, through a Facebook post, Thaci said he expects Wednesday or Thursday to allow reporting on the Kosovo Assembly to inform Kosovo MPs and citizens of his meetings in Washington and more specifically of Monday's meeting.

Haci and Vuciq have been in the United States on separate visits, during which US officials have urged both sides to take action, ensuring the resumption of talks on normalising relations between them.

American officials are urging Kosovo to lift tariffs imposed in November 2018 on Serbian goods, while from Belgrade seek to end the campaign for attracting recognitions of Kosovo's independence.

Dialogue on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia has been interrupted since the establishment of these tariffs.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced last week that he will temporarily and in part remove them.

Grenelli has said he does not support Kurti's “semi-size measures, while the European Union, as facilitator of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, has welcomed his announcement.
