“If you want Kosovo...” - Commentator addresses Ramush Haradinaj with a scandalous message

A harsh and inappropriately speaking comment has been published on the social Facebook network to Ramush Haradinaj, following a post he has spoken about the issue of American gas and criticised the Kosovo government's refusal, led by Albin Kurti, for co-operation with the United States of America on this project, writes Periscopi.

In his post, Haradinaj had stressed the importance of strategic co-operation with the US in the energy sector, considering it harmful to reject projects that, according to him, could affect the country's economic development and energy security.

However, the post has prompted numerous reactions from citizens, including offensive comments.

A citizen named Dukagjin Rozhaja - Dugi has left with an offensive comment about Haradinaj, writing:

If you love the people of Kosovo, you kill yourself. ”

Such comments are not rare in opposition posts.

Albin,

When you don't have results, you talk about the past.

When you don't have projects, you talk about projects that weren't realized.

When you have no answers to the present, you attack those who have made decisions before you.

But Kosovo citizens do not live in 2018.

Citizens live in 2026.

And after five or six years of your government, the balance is clear.

When you took power, you promised energy transformation, energy independence from import, economic development and strategic investment.

Today, after five to six years:

• Kosovo still does not produce energy that consumes, so it cannot cover consumption;

• Kosovo continues to remain net importer of electricity;

• According to Energy Community data, in 2024 Kosovo has produced about 6,059 GWh of electricity, while consumed about 6,611 GWh, leaving deficit of over 550 GWh;

• The peak request (in the bar) in 2025 has reached about 1,600 MW, while operational capacity has been around 1,241MW

• Kosovo still relies almost entirely on lignite power plants built more than five decades ago;

• No new thermal power plant was built;

• No gas station was built;

• No new basic production capacity has been built that guarantees the country's long-term energy security.

But let's also talk about the bill Kosovo is paying for the lack of strategic investments.

According to published data on the purchase of electricity:

• From 01.01.2015 to 31.12.2020 were spent over 270 MilEUR electricity purchase;

• From 01.01.2021 to 31.03.2026 were spent over 923 MilEUR to purchase electricity.

So over 923 million of your government has been spent, or over 652 million euros more, than in the pre-term.

I repeat: 923 million EUR for energy imports.

And now citizens have the right to ask:

- Where's the new thermal power plant?

- Where's the gas plant?

- Where is the project to replace the T? C Kosova A?

- Where is the project that will make Kosovo less import dependent?

Because the answer is simple: It doesn't exist.

But let's also talk about the transmission network.

Because energy security is not built with production alone.

It is built with strong networks, substation, transmission lines and strategic investments that give the country long-term security.

In five years of government:

• No new substation was built 400 kV or 220 kV;

• No transformative investment in Kosovo's transmission network has been realised;

• No major project has been implemented establishing new capacities for massive energy integration from renewable sources;

• No strategic transmission infrastructure has been built that radically changes the safety of the electromagnetic system.

Without strong transmission networks, there is no serious integration of renewable resources, no energy security, and no long-term development of the sector.

And now let's talk about historical facts.

During the time when I was prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, not only promises have been made.

Historical results have been achieved, which have permanently changed Kosovo's position on the European energy map.

During my term:

• Kosovo and Albania created the Kosovo-Albania Regulatory Block for the first time in history, granting Kosovo operational independence in the electromagnetic system;

• COSTT and Kosovo institutions negotiated and secured the Locking Agreement with ENTSO-E, where the independent operation of COST was internationally recognised and operational dependence on EMS/Serbia was eliminated;

• For the first time, the Kosovo Republic of Kosovo's regulatory zone was internationally recognised;

• For the first time, the assets of the Kosovo Republic's broadcasting system were internationally recognised;

• Kosovo gained full access to cross-border capacity and revenues from intercontacts;

• Foundations set for functioning of Kosovo's common energy market- Albania and the creation of ALEPEX.

These are historic achievements that strengthened the energy sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo.

What are you leaving behind?

• With more than 923m EUR energy imports;

• New basic generation capacities lack;

• Strategic investment shortages in the transmission network;

• A lack of projects guaranteeing domestic energy security.

Therefore, Albin, the problem is not what Ramush Haradinaj did in 2018.

The problem is what you didn't do until 2026.

Because energy is not measured by propaganda.

Energy is measured:

- with megavats built.

- Miles set up.

- With new substations built.

- With the security of supplies guaranteed to citizens.

And right here is the difference between us.

We strengthened Kosovo's energy sovereignty.

You are managing the consequences of lack of strategic investments.

History will judge both.
