The president of the International Federation of the Red Cross, Francesco Rocca, now deemed it unacceptable for migrants gathered at the Greco-Turkish border to be used as political weapons and urged the EU to respect human dignity.

Thousands of migrants have gathered since last Friday along the border between Turkey and Greece, the door to the EU, but Athens has closed its borders and has placed a large number of police and military forces on the border.
