Dozens of protesters in a Ukrainian town have attacked buses carrying people from China who are suspected of coronarys.
evacuees were sent to the hospital in Novi Sanzary, in the central Polanva region, where they will be held in quarantine for 14 days. President Volodymyr Zelensky called on protesters to show sensitivity.
Ukraine's security service (SBU) said a false email claiming to be from the Health Ministry said some evacuees were infected with coronarys, the BBC writes.
SBU officials are now investigating fraud, a statement said. Ukraine has no confirmed cases of the new Coronavirus, which originated in the province of Hubei, China.
To show solidarity with the evacuees, Ukrainian Health Minister Zoryana Skaletska said she would join them in quarantine and run her ministry with Skype.
“I hope my presence there calms them in Novi Sanzary, as well as the rest of the country,” She wrote on a Facebook post.
What happened at Novy Sanzhary?
On Thursday of February 19th, 45 Ukrainians and 27 foreign citizens flew from Wuhan, China, to the town of Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine.
Six buses were then taken to the hospital in Novi Sanzary, where they were received by demonstrators by lighting fire and throwing stones.
After a tense stay, police and national guards managed to unblock their way to the building where the evacuations will stay.
