Regarding the country's prime minister's announcement, Albin Kurti for the fee on Serbian products, the Office of the High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security of the European Union, Josep Borell, has reacted today.
The European Union has welcomed the announcement that Kosovo will lift tariffs for the import of raw materials from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Macedonian Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced on Thursday that Kosovo will lift tariffs for importing raw materials from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. We welcome this announcement as a first step and look forward to seeing more details”, says Borelli's Office response.
“This step could have a positive effect on restoring regional trade and providing an opening for the resumption of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina facilitated by the European Union”, it is further said.
The media response reportedly has so far lost much time.
The “has been wasted too long. Faith must be restored urgently. Serbia and Kosovo must create a favourable environment for dialogue to resume, to benefit both. High Representative, President Josep Borrell is willing to play his role as facilitator of dialogue on behalf of the EU”, further said in response.
While the European Union has welcomed Kurti's announcement of the fee, the US envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Richard Green through a writing in Titter, has not supported Kurti, saying that the US position is clear, the tariff has to be completely removed.
Otherwise, Kurti at an extraordinary media conference Thursday said that on March 15th the tax would be partially removed, while if Serbia and the EU fail to act, the tax returns 100 per cent again on June 15th.
