Despite the US mediation to address the recent Kosovo phase of Serbia for a possible peace agreement, US Congressman Eliot Engel, who is also chairman of the House of Representatives' House for Foreign Relations Commission, is praising that the future of the talks remains unclear.
So it says in a letter that Engel has sent to Presevo Mayor Shqim Arifi, who has invited him to a Washington meeting.
In a letter published by Arifi, Engel writes that the future of normalisation talks between Pristina and Belgrade remains unclear.
He adds that any agreement reached should also take into account the rights of Albanians in Presevo.
“Although the future of normalisation talks between Belgrade and Pristina remains unclear, it is imperative that any final agreement take into account the rights of ethnic Albanians and address the possibilities for economic growth in Presevo”, writes Engel, until he says he will personally engage in the rights of residents of this region.
To discuss this matter, Engel invited Arifi to Washington.
With an invitation from Congressman, friend of Albanians, Mr. Eliot Engel, once and chairman of the Foreign Policy Commission, will visit the American Congress in Washington DC to announce Mr. Engel with the current political situation in the Presevo Valley, as well as I will recommend our positions regarding the resolution of the issue of Albanians on this side for individual and collective rights”, Arifi wrote.
