US Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim held her first public word in taking office.

The ambassador even delivered an Albanian message: We're still with you arms for arms.

We are friends, we are allies and we are partners. As I said during my hearing in the Senate, few friends have embraced America. I'm honored to be here in front of the US Embassy building. This beautiful building stands as a testament to the enduring strength of American-Albanian relations.

Our friendship was not built on one day but its roots are deep. 100 years ago President Withdrow raised his voice to Albania when no one did. The American president used US power to support an independent Albania. Against each case, he hosted a U.S. representative and expected that after World War II, our two governments took different paths.

Even when governments did not know each other, our people continued to support each other. We stayed connected and talked to each other through the American voice. We have been supporting you since then and now your efforts to join the EU. Today we stand next to you in support of Albania's future. We know that there is hard work ahead of us that hard work is easier when you have friends and allies around you. The US is committed to helping Albania become the strongest ally. The US is committed to helping Albania reinforce its EU candidacy.

I look forward to working with leaders of Albania. I am faithful as justice takes root in Albania more investors will come to Albania in order to create more employment opportunities. There is no doubt that the US values Albania as an ally and a true friend. As we stayed in 1920, 1991, 1999, 2009, we will support your country. I welcome you and tell you “we are still with you arms for arms”, the ambassador said. /tch
