Today, members of the same sex can legally marry from Northern Ireland.
From Monday, couples of the same sex will be able to register for marriage, which means the first ceremonies will take place in February, the BBC writes.
For married couples, their marriage will be recognized legally.
However, those who are already in a civil partnership will not be able to turn it into marriage at this stage.
The Northern Ireland office decided to start a consultation later this year for converting civil partnerships and church role in same - sex marriages. /Periscopi/
